a) Job Purpose
The job is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical control systems, airfield ground lighting systems, electrical building services, power back-up systems critical to the safe and efficient operation and ensuring compliance with aviation safety and operational standards.

b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Developing concept and detailed engineering designs, preparation of design specifications, cost estimates and tender documents for electrical engineering projects;
ii. Participating in project management and supervision activities of capital projects;
iii. Drafting design specifications and tender documents;
iv. Establishing project risk registers and a monitoring and evaluation framework for projects;
v. Supporting project managers in preparation of electrical engineering facility’s status reports and action programs to sustain / upgrade service standards;
vi. Overseeing the implementation of electrical engineering assets maintenance programs within all airports and airstrips;
vii. Participating in project planning, origination, prioritizing and budgeting for electrical engineering projects; and
viii. Liaising with Legal department in preparation and execution of contracts.

c) Key Qualifications and Experience
i. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution of higher learning
ii. Master’s degree is desirable
iii. A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must be in a supervisory position
iv. Professional registration with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or equivalent
v. Postgraduate qualifications in airport engineering/ planning is an added advantage
vi. Member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) or related professional body
vii. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
viii. Proficiency in Computer application

d) Skills and Competencies
Risk management, coaching, people management, good communication skills, analytical, problem solving & decision-making skills.

Terms and Conditions of Service
Permanent and pensionable terms as per the provisions of the Authority’s Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.

(v) Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

The clearance certificates should be valid and current. The self-declaration Form from EACC should indicate the respective position that is being applied for.
