a) Job Purpose
The job holder will be responsible for providing overall strategic leadership and directions for operations and safety management of the aerodromes. a) Job Purpose

a) Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for aviation security compliance to International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices and National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Programs within the aerodromes.
b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Leading implementation of National Civil Aviation Security, International Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs);
ii. Developing and implementing security strategies, policies, legal framework and procedures that comply with the requirements of national and international standards and recommended practices;
iii. Implementing the national civil aviation security quality control schedule of aviation security audits, inspections, tests and surveys in aerodromes and obtain approval from regulatory body;
iv. Developing and reviewing the airport civil aviation security programs, security contingency plans and standard operating procedures of all aerodromes to conform to regulatory requirements;
v. Coordinating aviation security risk assessments at aerodromes are carried out to identify security concerns and corrective action plan are developed and undertake continuous aviation security surveillance;
vi. Ensuring, aviation security deficiencies identified during quality control activities have been resolved and closed;
vii. Coordinating with the national security and international agencies and other stakeholders in investigating matters related to acts of unlawful interference to civil aviation and other emerging threats and provides security emergency plans; and
viii. Spearheading research and recommending to the Authority on new and emerging technology for aviation security equipment to mitigate emerging aviation risks and threats.
c) Key Qualifications and Experience
i. Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Security Management, Forensics, Military Science or a related field from a recognized institution
ii. Master’s degree in Criminology, Security Management, Military Science or a related field from a recognized institution
iii. Minimum period of ten (10) years relevant work experience three (3) of which must be in a managerial/supervisory position
iv. Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
v. Professional qualification in aviation security or related field (Certification in Aviation, Security in ICAO Civil Aviation National Inspectors Course or ICAO security auditing Course, Certification of ICAO Universal Security Audit Program (USAP- CMA) amongst others)
vi. Proficiency in computer applications
d) Skills and Competencies
Risk management, coaching, people management, good communication skills, analytical, problem solving & decision-making skills.

a) Job Purpose
The Job holder will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the airport’s bird/wildlife hazard management program to minimize the risk of bird and wildlife strikes occurrences within the airports and the environs. This role ensures compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations, national aviation standards and best practices while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance aviation safety.
b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Carrying out both scheduled and unscheduled wildlife risk assessments in accordance to relevant ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices in aviation and use the information to develop and review wildlife hazard management plans;
ii. Carrying out research for understanding wildlife changing / emerging trends and management technologies that are used for implementable and manageable effective innovative airport wildlife control techniques;
iii. Developing and maintaining databases, analyzing data and synthesizing the information from all airports for organization’s management decision making;
iv. Developing curricula and implementing training programs for staff and stakeholders to ensure continuous capacity development;
v. Providing guidance regarding the creation of aviation wildlife control related policies and legislation;
vi. Advising management on bio-physical management to ensure strategic management of the environment in order to control bird and wildlife presence in the airports;
vii. Liaising with all government departments, aviation wildlife/safety committees and other organizations which impact on the presence of birds/ wildlife in and around the airports to ensure their involvement in the effective airports wildlife control strategies; and
viii. Working with other relevant departments /bodies on compliance with international and national safety and environmental standards on birds/wildlife hazards.
c) Key Qualifications and Experience
i. Bachelor’s degree in Ornithology / Wildlife Management / Environment / Aviation Management / Animal Science or a related field from a recognized institution of higher learning
ii. Master’s degree is desirable
iii. Statistical and Geographical Information System (GIS) training is an added advantage
iv. Instructor training in aviation wildlife control is an added advantage
v. At least eight (8) years of experience with at least three (3) years of managerial/supervisory experience
vi. Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
vii. Proficiency in computer applications
