AIRPORT MANAGER, MALINDI (JOB GRADE S7)REF: OP&S/AML/ FEBRUARY 2025

a) Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing implementation of Airport operational services to achieve business growth, seamless customer experience, safety and security of passengers and airport users in line with national legislations and International civil aviation Standards & Recommended Practices.
b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Providing leadership to airport staff and stakeholders to improve airport operations, enhance customer experience, and drive business growth;
ii. Managing and coordinating day-to-day airport operations, including terminal services, airside operations, ground handling and facilities maintenance;
iii. Managing and directing implementation and compliance with the civil aviation standards and recommended practices in facilitation, security and safety and other regulatory requirements;
iv. Coordinating implementation of business growth & development plans for the airport to enhance growth in partnership with airport stakeholders to maximize revenue generation.
v. Coordinating maintenance and operations of international standards of airport facilities and infrastructure to achieve reliability, efficiency and industry regulatory compliance;
vi. Developing and implementing Airport budget and annual procurement plan in line with the provisions of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and the Public Procurement & Asset Disposal Act 2015 as read with the Public Procurement & Asset disposal Regulations 2020;
vii. Driving the certification process for the aerodrome in order to comply with national legislation and international standards and recommended practices;
viii. Providing leadership in the development and implementation of airport emergency plan and business continuity plan in the unfortunate event of an emergency at the airport or its vicinity;
ix. Facilitating the development, review and implementation of the Airport Master Plan in consultation with industry stakeholders;
x. Promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability at the airport in line with KAA strategic plan and government policies; and
xi. Overseeing the implementing of performance management system at the airport to improve productivity and achieve organization goals.
c) Key Qualifications and Experience
i. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Studies, Social Sciences or any other business related field from a recognized institution
ii. Master’s degree is desirable
iii. Certification in any ICAO regulatory training is an added advantage
iv. Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience, with at least 3 years at a managerial/supervisory level
v. Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
vi. Proficiency in computer applications
d) Skills and Competencies
Teamwork, good communication, interpersonal, supervisory and analytical skills.
Terms and Conditions of Service
Permanent and pensionable terms as per the provisions of the Authority’s Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.
