a) Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for engineering design, project costing, tender documentation, tendering processes, project management, and construction supervision as well as oversee maintenance of airport infrastructure.
b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Developing concept and detailed engineering designs, preparation of design specifications, cost estimates and tender documents for civil engineering projects;
ii. Drafting design specifications and tender documents;
iii. Establishing project risk registers and a monitoring and evaluation framework for projects;
iv. Overseeing the implementation of civil engineering assets maintenance programs within all airports and airstrips;
v. Participating in project planning, origination, prioritizing and budgeting for civil engineering projects;
vi. Supporting in the supervision of capital project activities in project management;
vii. Participation in Airport Master-planning activities; and
viii. Liaising with Legal department in preparation and execution of contracts.
c) Key Qualifications and Experience
i. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institution of higher learning
ii. Master’s degree is desirable
iii. A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience in civil engineering works, three (3) of which must be in a supervisory position
iv. Professional registration with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), or equivalent
v. Member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), ASK, PMP, or related professional body
vi. Postgraduate qualifications in airport engineering/ planning is an added advantage
vii. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
viii. Proficiency in Computer application
d) Skills and Competencies
Risk management, coaching, people management, good communication skills, analytical, problem solving & decision-making skills.
Terms and Conditions of Service
Permanent and pensionable terms as per the provisions of the Authority’s Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.

(iii) Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
(iv) Clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC)
(v) Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
The clearance certificates should be valid and current. The self-declaration Form from EACC should indicate the respective position that is being applied for.
