KAA Participates in the Africa Advanced Air Mobility Symposium

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) proudly participated in the inaugural Africa Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium, held on March 18–19, 2025, at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi. Organized by Fahari Aviation, a subsidiary of Kenya Airways, this groundbreaking event marked a pivotal moment for the future of aviation in Africa, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to explore the transformative potential of Advanced Air Mobility across the continent.
The symposium was officially opened by Mr. Mohamed Daghar, Principal Secretary of the State Department of Transport, who emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in shaping Africa’s aviation future. The event provided a platform to showcase cutting-edge technologies such as Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft and urban air taxis, which promise to redefine transportation across Africa’s urban and rural landscapes.
Representing KAA, Dr. Simon Peter, Operations Manager at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), participated in a roundtable session focused on infrastructure development. He highlighted the critical role infrastructure plays in laying the foundation for Advanced Air Mobility solutions, particularly in enhancing connectivity and supporting sustainable development across the region.
The symposium underscored Fahari Aviation’s commitment to leveraging AAM technologies to bridge gaps between Africa’s rapidly growing urban centers and expansive rural areas. By deploying drones, eVTOLs, and other innovative solutions, AAM aims to tackle transportation challenges while fostering environmentally sustainable practices.
Participants benefited from insightful case studies on urban air mobility implementations in leading global cities such as New York, Paris, and Singapore, learning strategies for adapting these solutions to Africa’s unique context. Discussions also covered regulatory frameworks, investment opportunities, and partnerships essential for advancing AAM technologies across the continent.
As a key stakeholder in Africa’s aviation ecosystem, KAA remains committed to fostering collaboration and driving innovation that enhances connectivity and supports economic growth. The Authority recognizes the transformative potential of AAM technologies in addressing transportation challenges while contributing to Kenya’s vision of sustainable development.
KAA’s participation in the symposium reflects its dedication to positioning Kenya as a leader in aviation innovation. By engaging with industry experts and policymakers during this landmark event, KAA continues to play an integral role in shaping the future of air mobility for Africa.
The Africa Advanced Air Mobility Symposium was not only an opportunity to showcase technological advancements but also a platform for forging global partnerships that will accelerate Africa’s journey toward next-generation aviation solutions. KAA is proud to be part of this vision and looks forward to contributing further to initiatives that drive innovation and efficiency in air transportation.
